Laurent Hélène is a spiritual energy healer, born in Mauritius, who now offers distance energy healing sessions. Through this work, he supports individuals in finding balance, inner peace, and deeper harmony. You can learn more about his journey and practice here: about my path and practice here.
You’ve tried the meditation apps. You’ve done the breathwork. You’ve cleaned up your diet, taken the supplements, and journaled the morning pages—and yet, something still feels off. A heaviness you can’t quite name. A spiritual flatness that no amount of self-care seems to lift.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you’re not broken. Sometimes the work isn’t about doing more. It’s about receiving—letting something move through you that you can’t force on your own.
Distance energy healing is a remote modality that uses focused intention and universal life force energy to support your body, mind, and spirit—from anywhere in the world. No travel, no waiting room, no need to leave your bed. In this guide, I’ll walk you through exactly how it works, what it can shift, what to expect from your first session, and why so many people are choosing remote healing as a cornerstone of their spiritual wellness practice.
What Is Distance Energy Healing?
Distance energy healing — sometimes called remote energy healing, long-distance Reiki, or absent healing — is the practice of channeling healing energy to a recipient who isn’t physically present. The practitioner works from their own sacred space, the recipient relaxes in theirs, and energy flows between them through focused intention.
The practice draws from many traditions. Reiki lineages have used distance symbols for over a century. Pranic healers work with subtle life force across rooms, cities, continents. Shamanic practitioners have journeyed on behalf of others since long before “remote” meant a Zoom link. What they share is a common premise: energy is non-local. It isn’t bound by physical distance any more than your love for someone is bound by the room you’re standing in.
The Science-Adjacent Explanation
Honest disclosure first: distance healing isn’t something modern science can fully explain or replicate in a lab. Anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. What we can say is that biofield research — from organizations like the HeartMath Institute and studies catalogued by the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health — has documented measurable effects of energy-based therapies on heart rate variability, stress markers, and pain perception.
Quantum entanglement is often invoked as a metaphor for non-local healing. It’s a useful image, but it’s a metaphor, not a mechanism. The most truthful framing is this: distance energy healing is a complementary practice with a long lineage and a growing body of anecdotal and exploratory evidence. It works alongside medical and psychological care — never as a replacement for it.
How Does Distance Energy Healing Actually Work?
In a typical session, I enter a meditative state and connect to your energy field through intention. This connection is sometimes called “tuning in” — a kind of focused attentiveness that bridges the space between us. From that state, I channel energy through my hands, breath, and visualization.
Common techniques include guided visualization of light or color through the body, and breath-led intention. The practitioner doesn’t generate the healing energy themselves — they act as a channel for it. You receive what your body, mind, and spirit are ready to receive.
A Typical Session Flow
Most sessions follow a simple rhythm:
- A brief intake conversation — by a short video call — where you share what’s present for you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
- A scheduled session window, usually 30 to 40 minutes, when you rest in a quiet space and the practitioner works.
- During the session, you simply lie down, breathe, and allow. Some people sleep. Some cry. Some feel almost nothing in the moment, then notice ripples in the days that follow.
- A brief integration message afterward — a few notes on what came through and any gentle suggestions for the days ahead.
Benefits for Spiritual Wellness
People come to distance energy healing for many reasons, and the benefits often unfold in layers. Here’s what clients most commonly report:
Releases Energetic Blockages
The chakras and subtle body hold residue from grief, fear, and unprocessed memories. Healing helps these blockages soften so life force can flow again.
Calms the Nervous System
Many people drop into deep parasympathetic rest — the kind of regulation that’s genuinely hard to access in our overstimulated lives.
Supports Emotional Release
Old grief, anger, shame, and trauma often surface gently during or after a session — manageable rather than overwhelming.
Enhances Spiritual Clarity
Clients describe sharper intuition, more vivid dreams, and a clearer inner voice in the days following a session.
Cleanses the Aura
If you’re sensitive, you’ve noticed how much you absorb from people, places, and screens. Healing clears that accumulated static.
Accelerates Self-Healing
By raising your vibrational frequency, distance healing supports the work you’re already doing in therapy, meditation, or somatic practice.
Bridges mind, body, and spirit. Perhaps the most important benefit: a felt sense of integration. You stop feeling like a collection of problems to fix and start feeling like a whole person again. This wholeness isn’t a destination — it’s something that returns to you the moment the inner static quiets enough for you to hear yourself.

What Clients Commonly Report Feeling
Sensations during a session vary widely. Some people experience strong physical signals; others feel almost nothing in the moment but notice changes afterward. Both are completely normal. Common experiences include:
- Warmth, tingling, or gentle pressure in specific areas of the body
- Emotional waves — sometimes tears, sometimes laughter — followed by deep calm
- Vivid imagery, symbols, or unusually meaningful dreams that night
- A sense of “lightness” or spaciousness that lingers for days
- Spontaneous insight about a relationship, decision, or stuck pattern
Distance Healing vs. In-Person Healing — Which Is Right for You?
A question I hear constantly: “Isn’t in-person healing more powerful?” The honest answer is: not necessarily. They’re different experiences, and distance healing has some genuine advantages.
In-person sessions are wonderful if you respond strongly to physical presence and gentle touch. There’s something irreplaceable about being in a held space with another human being. But in-person healing also requires travel, scheduling, and the energetic adjustment of being in someone else’s environment.
Distance healing, by contrast, lets you receive in your most regulated state — your own bed, your own pillow, your own space. You don’t spend the first ten minutes coming down from traffic. You don’t leave the session and immediately have to navigate a parking lot. Many practitioners (and clients) report that distance work goes deeper precisely because the recipient is fully relaxed and the energy isn’t diluted by environmental noise.
It’s also a lifeline for people with chronic illness, mobility challenges, caregiving responsibilities, or anyone living far from a trusted practitioner. Geography stops being a barrier.
Is Distance Energy Healing Right for You?
Distance healing tends to support people who are navigating chronic stress, life transitions, grief, burnout, recurring emotional patterns, or a sense of being spiritually “stuck.” If you’re drawn to it, that pull itself is meaningful information. The body asks for what it needs before the mind catches up.
You may be a good fit if you recognize yourself in any of these:
- You’re highly sensitive and easily absorb other people’s emotional weather.
- You’ve been “doing the work” — therapy, journaling, meditation — but feel something subtler is still asking to be addressed.
- You’re moving through a transition: divorce, bereavement, career change, relocation, illness recovery.
- You feel disconnected from your own intuition or inner voice.
- You sense an old pattern repeating and want to release it at a deeper-than-cognitive level.
That said, it’s important to be clear about what energy healing is and isn’t. It’s a complementary practice—not a substitute for medical care, mental health treatment, or professional therapy. If you’re working with a serious physical or psychological condition, distance healing can sit alongside your treatment plan, not replace it. Anyone who promises a guaranteed cure or tells you to abandon your doctor is not someone you should trust with your healing. How to Prepare for Your First Session
You don’t need anything special, but a few small preparations help you receive more deeply:
- Hydrate well in the hours before your session and again afterward. Energy work can be subtly dehydrating.
- Find a quiet, uninterrupted space where you can lie down for the full session window. Phone on silent. Pets settled.
- Set a clear intention before you begin. One sentence is enough. “I’m open to whatever wants to be released” works beautifully.
- Keep a journal nearby. Insights, images, or memories often arrive in the minutes after the session ends.
- Allow 24 to 48 hours of integration time. Avoid back-to-back commitments if you can. The session continues after the session.
- Be gentle with food and stimulants for a day. Lighter meals, less caffeine, more water — your system will thank you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does distance energy healing really work if I’m skeptical?
Yes. Some of the most powerful sessions I’ve facilitated have been with people who arrived openly skeptical. The energy works regardless of belief. Skepticism is just honest curiosity wearing armor — and curiosity is a perfectly good starting point. Openness deepens the experience, but it isn’t a prerequisite.
How many sessions do I need?
Most people feel a noticeable shift after a single session. Lasting transformation — the kind that rewires patterns rather than just easing them — typically unfolds across three to six sessions, often spaced one to four weeks apart. We’ll find a rhythm together based on what you’re working with.
Can you heal someone without their permission?
No. Ethical practitioners always work with explicit consent. Sending healing to someone who hasn’t asked for it — even with good intentions — crosses an energetic boundary. If you’d like to support someone, you can hold them in loving intention or pray for their highest good. That’s a different practice and an honorable one.
Will I feel anything during the session?
Sensations vary from person to person and session to session. Some people feel intense physical sensations; some feel emotional waves; some feel almost nothing in the moment but notice profound changes in the days that follow. None of these experiences is “more correct” than the others. Your body knows how to receive.
Is distance energy healing safe?
Yes. Energy healing is non-invasive and self-regulating — your body only takes what it needs and leaves the rest. There are no needles, no pressure, no manipulation. The most common “side effect” is feeling unusually emotional or tired for a day or two as old energy moves out, which is a sign the work is integrating.
Do I need to be on a video call during the actual session?
No. We connect briefly before the session by video for intake. During the healing itself, you simply rest in your own space — eyes closed, comfortable, undisturbed. There’s no screen between us while the energy flows. We reconnect afterward, either with a short message or a follow-up note.
How is this different from prayer or sending good vibes?
Prayer and loving intention are beautiful, and they share a common thread with energy healing: focused care directed across distance. The difference is training, lineage, and structured technique. A trained practitioner works within a specific energetic framework, holds clear protocols, and channels energy in a sustained, dedicated way. Both have value; they aren’t the same thing.
Begin Your Spiritual Wellness Journey
If something in this article quietly resonated — a sentence that made you pause, a feeling of recognition you can’t quite name — trust that. The pull toward healing is itself the beginning of healing. You don’t have to figure everything out first. You don’t have to be sure. You only have to be willing to receive.
Wherever you are in the world, healing can reach you there. Whether you’re in a city apartment at 2 a.m. with a racing mind, on a quiet farm with a heart that’s been heavy for months, or somewhere in between trying to find your footing again — the work can find you in that exact place.
